DIY Magazine Rack Projects

Isn’t it annoying to always find magazines and newspapers all over the place, on the table, on the chair, even in the kitchen? You could easily solve that problem if you had a magazine rack where you could just store them all. Magazine racks come in all sorts of designs and there are also lots of DIY projects you can try. Here are some great examples.

Modern magazine rack diy.

To make this one you’ll need a 2x3x96″ stud, 14’ of electrical wire, 4 3’’ screws, two shades of paint, sandpaper, galvanized plumber’s tape as well as a saw, a drill and a ruler. Measure and cut the stud into pieces and then pre-drill the holes. Screw the sides together and measure the middle. Then make the holes and paint the rack. Then add the cord and it’s all done.{found on abeautifulmess}.

Pallet side.

This lovely piece is a side table and also a magazine rack. It could also be used as a nightstand so it’s actually a multi-purpose piece of furniture. You can easily make something similar out of a wooden pallet. You have to take it apart and use the pieces to make this layered structure.{found ondiycozyhome}.

Vertical magazine rack.

To make a magazine rack similar to this one you’ll need some wood and industrial hardware. Cut the wood into pieces of the desired size and then use wood flue and a nail gun to secure the four pieces together. Then the rack should be assembled. Sand it down and apply a coat of stain. Use cord or wire for the final part of the project.{found on site}.

Old ladder.

This magazine rack is actually a ladder and it’s a great example of how you can repurpose items. The ladder stands vertically against the wall and has a nice weathered charm. It also makes an interesting accessory for the room. You can place it in the bedroom, living room, kitchen and anywhere else you want.{found on posiesandplume}.

Rack with leather straps.

For this beautiful project you’ll need a 5/8″ wide hardwood dowel, a hardwood board, leather straps, heavy waxed thread and 1.5″ x 2″ brass rectangular rings. You’ll also need a saw, a drill press, a drill, a lather hole punch and a leather needle. Cut the wood pieces and drill holes for the dowels. Pair up the pieces and secure them together. Then test-assemble everything and draw a line on the feet to indicate where the legs need to be cut flush to the ground. Cut the leather straps, punch the holes and sew up the pieces. Then slide them onto the dowel pieces.

Towels rack + magazine rack.

Here’s how you can make an elegant magazine rack from a wooden pallet. First lay the pallet upside down. Cut directly next to the center wood beam with a saw. Take the nails off of the front beam from the other half of the pallet. Then take that beam and nail it to the bottom of the rack. Sand down all the rough areas and stain the wood. Add decorative knobs if you want.{found on diyconfessions}.

Magazine Racket.

In case you didn’t notice, you can make magazine racks from almost anything, even tennis rackets. For this project, for example, you need two vintage tennis rackets with brackets, a wooden crate and something for the table top if you want one. Stain the tennis brackets and the wooden crate and use nails to keep them together.{found on salvagedspaces}.

Bicycle tires.

To make this magazine rack you’ll have to use bicycle tires. The frame is made of wood and the design of the rack is very simple. Still, it requires time and effort, especially for making the holes and attaching the tubes. It’s a great recycling project.{found on curbly}.

Crate magazine holder.

Here we have another lovely magazine rack. This one is made from an old wooden crate with a nice vintage look. The crate can be stained if you want to give it a fresh look. Then you just have to attach the wheels to the base of the crate and there you have it: a mobile magazine rack.{found on lovevly}.

Black rack.

This one is another wooden pallet project. It’s a magazine rack for the bathroom but it could also be place in any other room. You just need a pallet and some stain. Cut the pallet in half or to any other size you want, remove a beam and attach to the portion you have chosen for the magazine rack. Then stain it and mount it on the wall.{found on site}.
