Look! A Modern Hamper!

083107hamper2.jpg
Hampers can be a design damper. The options out there are either boring plastic, or kitschy wicker/woven/basketweave... but look at this fun modern version that someone made via IKEAhacker.
They used some left over Ivar shelving, some plexiglass, and a few extra pieces of wood, and instant modern laundry must-have!...
083107hamper.jpg
They added a light, which we find a little... weird. We're not so sure we'd want our dirty clothes illuminated, but if you didn't want to use it as a hamper, it'd make a great console table... Unfortunately it doesn't look like there's any instructions/how to... but perhaps the pictures are enough to inspire someone for a DIY this weekend?... (via Ikeahacker)

DIY Building Block: IVAR Pine Box from IKEA

9-22-ikea-crate-1.jpg
While we recognize the brilliance of Jasper Morrison's Crate Series, we also recognize that the price tags are ridiculous. That's why we were super-excited to see IKEA's addition of a plain pine box to their IVAR series of simple storage...

Perhaps the images of Jasper Morrison's Crate for Established & Sons will help inspire you?
IKEA's solid wood IVAR box is untreated wood. It is ready to be painted, waxed or stained (or left alone). It can be cut, screwed into, or added onto (maybe casters?).
Solid pine sides with pine plywood bottom, the box measures 30.75 " wide, 19.25" deep and 11.75" tall. An IVAR pine box will set you back just $35.

COAT AND HAT RACK

A tribute to IKEA’s 60 years history. The new PS collection brings a new interpretation of the past, translated into new products that are relevant for today and tomorrow. The Coat and Hat Rack is inspired from TILJA, a hallway furniture of the 70′s. It is redesigned for PS 2012 as a playful and practical rack, where the user can decide where to position the knobs, shelf and tray.

Minimalist Office Interior Design Combining Two Companies into One
A minimalist office interior has been designed by ZEST Architecture. Interestingly, this office is purposively designed for two different companies: an architecture firm and an e-commerce business. Hence, the challenge is to provide large open space without losing the openness in limited area. Countering the demand, the architects smartly created a multifunction box that can be used for meeting room, presentation space, bookshelves and storage all at once. The furniture which mostly made of natural materials, bamboo construction panels and natural oiled pine for desks, makes the design look ingenious as well as contemporary.

Pine Wood part 2

Pine. Pine is soft, light weight, easy to work, less strength, and holds paint and varnishes well. Western pine is a little harder than the other varieties of pine. Pine is used for cabinets, unfinished furniture, outdoor furniture, and some high-quality furniture.

This kitchen furniture is completely different from the ones you have seen so far. Pine wood has lighter colors than the oak or walnut, and it is more economic. Also, the design of the furniture has lots of straight lines and simple iron faucets. It is common to see in this kind of small rooms a breakfast bar with two wood stools and very simple decoration so as to take the most of the space.

Pine kitchen cabinets are installed to uplift the aesthetic beauty of a kitchen. The cabinets are made from pine trees and the wood appears to be washed.
